Esta área temática estudia la respuesta de las masas forestales a diferentes intervenciones selvícolas, así como la cuantificación y modelización de sus producciones a diferentes escalas espacio temporales y bajo diferentes condiciones ecológicas y sociales. Esta información, junto con la valoración económica de los bienes y servicios asociados a tales sistemas forestales, permite la optimización de la toma de decisiones en la gestión forestal. Se presta atención al papel que desempeñan los bosques en el contexto del cambio climático. 

Líneas de Investigación
  • Evaluación de la biomasa forestal mediante técnicas de Teledetección espacial (e.g. VIS, IR, Radar, Lidar)
  • Evaluación de los bosques como sumideros de carbono
  • Modelos selvícolas orientados a la optimización de diferentes producciones físicas y ambientales
  • Biometría y cuantificación producción forestal: recursos maderables y no maderables, cinegéticos y ambientales
  • Gestión forestal adaptativa y de mitigación del cambio climático
  • Economía de los recursos forestales y ambientales sometidos a gestión forestal
  • Desarrollo de modelos de gestión forestal multifuncional
